Laurie Furber | Still Life Week 1

 Laurie Furber

Homework Week 1

I chose hard, transparent items for my still life because I thought it would be interesting to see the shapes layered against each other.  I didn't anticipate the challenges the reflective surfaces would present, as I shot in natural light with a big open bay door reflecting on the glass.

I shot in a daylight studio with white walls and a big bay door as the single source of light.  I used a marble table as my surface, pulled about a foot away from a white wall.

  1. Hi Laurie, I have to say I think the reflections are what make your pictures very special. They have such a light airy feel to them. I think you did a great job!

  2. Hi Laurie, nice selection of glass jars but definitely challenging as you mentioned! I love that you added this branch of greenery. Maybe a different background would give them more presence and depth? Just a suggestion.
